Manitou’s Revenge June 22, 2013

I am very excited to have been accepted into ultra runner Charlie Gadol's new and challenging event called Manitou's Revenge.  The 55-ish mile race will start in the Windham area and travel all the way to Phoenicia through the Catskills most grueling terrain.  This includes portions of the Escarpment Trail, the Long Path and the Devil's Path.  Last year I had the pleasure of conquering the Devil's Path with friends and it surely lived up to the hype.  I have also raced the intense Escarpment Trail Run a couple times.  When I found out that there were talks about a race joining together sections of both trails for over 50 miles... the wheels started turning.  Now there is no turning back.

Anyone interested in running should send in the application ASAP as registration will close on June 12th.

More information about crewing, pacing, volunteering etc. can be found at the links below:

Spring is around the bend!

Since I have been in a sort of blog-hibernation for most of the winter, here are some links in attempt to make the site more worthy of visiting ;)

  • A great article by Jeff Gaudette on progressing your training.

On Sunday I placed third in the Miles for Music 20k here in Johnson Park.  This was my first fitness indicator of the season and I am pleased with my effort.  It was a close finish with the top 4 coming in less than 20 seconds of each other.

Next up will be the 25th Annual HAT Run 50k down in Maryland on the 23rd.  A wonderful course and atmosphere for some fun spring trail racing!

Also celebrating their 25th annual race, I have committed to racing the Vermont City Marathon on May 26th.  I was runner-up back in 2011 and I really enjoyed the event.  The race directors always invite a strong competitive field and Burlington is an awesome place to visit.

Rolling through Burlington back in 2011

2012 UltraRunning Magazine Runners of the Year

I am excited to announce that I have received 6 votes for 2012 UltraRunning magazine North American ultramarathon runner of the year.  Although I did not have nearly as great of a year as many on the list, I am happy to have been noticed by a few.  You can check out the complete list on the website:  http://www.ultrarunning.com/ultra/features/news/morton-and-greenwood-name.shtml

Congratulations to Mike Morton and Ellie Greenwood for having an amazing year.  Their achievements were on a ridiculous new level!  These are truly incredible athletes that I look up to.
